TORONTO, May 2021 – Open Screenplay has partnered with Canadian relief and development non-profit Humaniti to launch a writing contest aimed at bringing to the forefront untold stories from the most distressed and poverty-stricken parts of the world. The objective of the contest is to uncover short-form dramatic stories that can be produced and distributed to raise awareness and inspire action toward the causes supported by Humaniti, including food and clean water security, access to physical and mental healthcare, and basic shelter and economic opportunity.
Using Open Screenplay’s online platform, organizations like Humaniti can access a community of over 32,000 storytellers across the globe to find and acquire authentic, compelling stories that can deliver and amplify their message, and inspire action. Commenting on the importance of this contest, Open Screenplay Founder & CEO Khaled Sabawi said “There is no better way to raise awareness, ignite our compassion, and motivate action than through stories that shed light on the suffering of others.
